Oliver Goldsmith's "Goggles" - Fashion, right on the nose

You don't need to be Gok Wan to know that a lot of today's glasses are positively influenced by retro fashion, including the 1980s (Come back soon when I link Tom Ford's sunglass collection with Coronation Street's Deirdre Barlow).

Ray-Ban Wayfarers are the ting in Hastings

Tom runs the Optical Lounge on George Street in Hastings Old Town or 'Tings as he referred to it.

He wears some wonderful Ray-Ban Wayfarers - I didn't ask him but they look like a vintage pair.

Spectacles should be big - IC! Berlin show the way

I love these glasses by IC! Berlin, another terrific German brand.#

Slowly but surely the common people are realising that letterbox-shaped styles are a thing of the past and big, Jarvis Cockeresque are where it's at.

Holding out for a hero... a Kirk Hero

When I first came across Kirk Heroes about three years ago I wasn't so sure. click on the image for a closer look - not the way the glitter gradually start above the left eye. I think these are Melissa Kirk in black and silver...
I love them now, and I have a similar pair of my own in black and red - well ahead of their time.

Vintage red sunglasses from London's Spitalfields market

Mrs Eyewearglasses, Beck, wears some 1960s Italian unbranded red crystal sunglasses, which she picked up from a guy called Adam on Spitalfields Market a few years back.

Mykita and Bernard Willhelm - round sunglasses

Mykita is a very special German brand of specs that started in 2004 - if you don't know them, hop over to their site and learn. in my opinion they've created not one but two of the best hinge designs ever known to glasses. With oodles of style too... you'll come to see a lot of them on this site.

Kirk Originals party continued...

Despite the signage, this (right) is Stephen, not Nigel.

Stephen clearly has an eye for style and shows what a little enthusiasm and taste can do - a great look, great combo of crystal and blue.

This pic was taken at the Kirk Orginals Turbo Preview launch in Covent Garden, London. The next few photos will feature more of Kirks' signature style, with the temple curving round the front of the frame.

See Eyewear 1204 - all the way from San Fran

While I enjoyed a bottle of Becks courtesy of Kirks I met a few interesting glasses related folk.

Rebekah laughed at my quirky English ways, but was nevertheless willing to have a picture taken wearing her tremendous retro frames.

The glasses are by See Eyewear, for whom Rebekah works in San Francisco.

A little research and I think they're model no 1204. She will no doubt correct me if they're not...
