Reykjavik Eyes unveils 2010-11 advertising images
Remember those screwless, jointless, hingeless glasses that weigh 2.2g that I raved about earlier this year? Well in what's shaping up to be an impromptu tour of design-refined Scandinavia, we touch down in Iceland with Reykjavik Eyes. As before, they've made a video too...

Through the keyhole with ProDesign Denmark glasses
Continuing our Scandinavian cruise south from yesterday's Moods of Norway we arrive at ProDesign Denmark where the aviator remains a popular glasses shape, as in the 7612, above. As does, you will notice, the keyhole bridge, in all but one of the frames above.

Moods of Norway: happy glasses for happy people
Fun and edgy Norwegian brand Moods of Norway makes glasses too. These crystal-blue aviator-shaped specs are terrific - expect more of these in 2011 glasses fans... Moods has stores in Iceland, Japan, the US and - you've guessed it - Norway.

RVS handmade eyewear takes the spectacle frame to another level
Bloody hell - will you take a look at these RVS by V specs!? Limited edition spectacles from RVS by V - only 100 of these will be made. The contours of this frame are simply stunning - I love the way the frame curves in towards the lens; the matt finish, the gloss inside. Gosh! More on RVS soon...

Amy Sacks Masa Tangerine glasses
Great combination of colour from the wooden temples and the tangerine fronts of these Amy Sacks glasses...
Maybach Eyewear: horn, wood, leather and gold luxury eyewear... titanium too!
Next month's Silmo show in Paris means there are plenty of new glasses acoming. And new names too. Here luxury car brand Maybach releases a few pictures from its first collection of luxury Maybach Eyewear, to be previewed next month and available to consumers at the end of October.
A ready-to-wear collection comprises eight sunglasses and 10 spectacle frames. Then, the Individual products can be bespoke using wood, horn, 18-carat gold...
No price list as yet, but suffice to say, Maybach cars sell for £500,000+ - these will not be the kind of sunglasses you lose.

Round glasses from Rims & Goggles - striking if they suit
Homer Owner of Rims & Goggles Optical Boutique in San Francisco is the first to admit that round glasses are not for everyone, but he adds, "when a man or a woman has the personality and facial structure that can be complimented by wearing round glasses, there will be few things in their wardrobe that are as strikingly individual".
Homer has a point, if they suit you they are brilliant. Here we showcase a few from Rims & Goggles' own RoundGlasses collection. Top is Architect in Cardinal Red, next down are the "high-contrast" tortoiseshell Rondo Due frames and finally the not-quite-round Jacqueline in a great crystal purple.

Massada glasses: Coffee means Dr Strange Love is no Sleeper
That was Sleeper.
This is Coffee...
This is clearly more Sleeper...
And this is Dr Strange Love...
And together they are just some of the highlights from Massada Eyewear's AW2010 collection; a new framemaker with Polish and British designers and some great classic shapes. I'm quite tempted by the round ones!

Ralph Vaessen 2011 handmade natural horn sunglasses
It's always good to see the latest from Ralph Vaessen, so here's the latest from his 2011 collection... I love the way the graduated tint on the lenses above are complemented by the changing shade of the horn of the frame. Watch the video for more. More horn...

My oh my: Mykita launches Mylon
Will you take a look at these from Mykita? They're made from a new material, Mylon, (see what they've done there?) which has a myriad properties to get the material scientist in me fondly remembering Young's modulus and the strength of peptide bonds.
If it's not a new hinge it's a new material. More on Mykita from Silmo - the big spectacles spectacle in Paris next month.
Oh yeah, nearly forgot, they look pretty good too, do they not? They're a collaboration with Romain Kremer. What do we call the side lenses? Is there a proper name?
